Even though the Hamburg native is still young, she has already achieved numerous superlatives:

  • "Control" rose to #18 on the pop radio charts in the U.S. and led to her U.S. television debut on "The Late Late Show with James Corden."
  • To date, her music has racked up over two billion streams worldwide.
  • Zoe was named to the legendary "Forbes 30 Under 30" list; she is one of the faces of Spotify's global "EQUAL" campaign, which supports equal rights for female artists in the music industry.
  • Apple Music honored them in April with their global "UpNext" campaign, and YouTube Music followed suit with their global "Artist on the Rise" initiative.
  • Since mid-December (2022), Madame Tussauds Berlin also has its own wax figure with the look Zoe wore on the red carpet at the American Music Awards in 2021.

Her special look and style fill huge billboards from Times Square in New York to London, Berlin and in her native Hamburg.

How it all began for Zoe Wees

The 20-year-old singer was born in Hamburg and grew up there with her mother, while even then she was connected to music to the core. As a child, she was diagnosed with Rolando's epilepsy - a traumatic condition that can trigger severe seizures and often leads sufferers into isolation. "I just started singing," she recalls. "I wrote my first songs when I was eight years old: It was the best way to show everyone how I felt. I love dark and deep songs - my lyrics have always been about inner demons or voices in my head. Music was and is my personal diary".

During a 2018 school concert, Zoe performed the emotional ballad "Unfaithful" by Rihanna. After the show, a teacher from another class approached her and was sure: "We need to work with your voice!". Together, they collaborated on original songs and a series of cover songs that they posted on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok - winning tens of thousands of enthusiastic new fans. Through the songs, even superstars like Lewis Capaldi, Dean Lewis and - as a personal highlight - even her idol Jessie J recognized Zoe's powerful voice and talent. The stars encouraged the aspiring artist to stay on the ball and fight for her dreams.

She then contacted award-winning Hamburg producers Patrick Pyke Salmy and Ricardo Muñoz, who in turn put her in touch with fellow songwriters Emma Rosen and René Miller. Working on original songs in a real studio with professional musicians was absolutely overwhelming, she says. Her strong and empowering debut single, "Control," tackles the emotional scars left by her illness. "I can't get my epilepsy out of my head, and I never knew how to accept it or how to move on," she explains.

The intimate ballad is the starting shot for Zoe's career. "Control" has been streamed well over half a billion times since its release last March. The breakthrough and start of an international career.
