3RIDES offers several marathon cycling routes on Sunday, May 14, that explore the border triangle in a topographical and scenic way.

The three routes of 140, 170 and 200 kilometers lead along beautiful spots in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
All participants will receive a full starter package. All routes can of course also be ridden on e-bikes. Very important: the bike marathons are not races, so please respect the StVO.

The courses
Mini Fondo - National Park North Eifel & East Belgium (140 KM / 2.000 HM)
The route: The region around Aachen leaves nothing to be desired for racing cyclists and offers breathtaking scenic highlights. After the start, the route goes through the Würselen forest in the direction of Stolberg. From here, the scenic route begins to get a little hillier. Via the Jägerhausstraße, the route goes up into the North Eifel National Park, where the poisonous climb to Rollesbroich then awaits the participants. Beautiful sections with undulating profile and rapid descents lead the participants via Hammer, Rohren and Kalterherberg to the Belgian border. The High Fens, with the highest climb in Belgium, Mont Rigi at almost 700 meters altitude, is the highest point of the Mini Fondo. From here, a 13-kilometer descent starts to Eupen, the seat of government of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Past the Weserbachtalsperre, the route winds through the picturesque villages of eastern Belgium. After crossing the border at Hergenrath, the route continues on the German side past the well-known University Hospital Aachen back to the finish on the 3RIDES site.
Important: the nature of the event is not a competition, the traffic regulations must be respected at all times. The tours can also be completed with e-bikes.
Medio Fondo - Beautiful tri-border area
(170 KM / 2,400 HM)
The route: If you want to explore the Aachen tri-border area by road bike, the Medio Fondo is the right place for you. As with the Mini Fondo, the course leads after the start through the Würselen forest in the direction of Stolberg, the gateway to the northern Eifel. From here, the route takes the Jägerhausstraße up into the national park, where the poisonous climb to Rollesbroich then awaits the participants. After Kesternich, the route continues with a dream view in the direction of the Rursee. Beautiful sections with an undulating profile follow via Hammer, Rohren and Kalterherberg to the Belgian border. The High Fens, with the highest climb in Belgium, Mont Rigi at almost 700 meters altitude, is the highest point of the Medio Fondo. From here, a 13-kilometer descent starts to Eupen, the seat of government of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Through a variety of picturesque villages in eastern Belgium, the route leads to the Dutch border in Sippenaeken. In Zuid-Limburg, the route winds through the breathtaking landscape on small paths and roads. Besides Vijlen, the highest village in the Netherlands, Bocholtz and Simpelfeld await the participants. From Kerkrade, it's back on German soil towards the finish line at the 3RIDES site.
Important: the nature of the event is not a competition, the traffic regulations must be respected at all times. The tours can also be completed with e-bikes.
Gran Fondo - the "Drielanden Omloop
(200 KM / 3,200 HM)
The route: Mountain bikers and climbing specialists can really let off steam at the Gran Fondo, because the border triangle around Aachen, with the foothills of the Ardennes and the northern Eifel, is an ideal starting point for fantastically beautiful low mountain routes. The initial phase is the same as for the other two routes. The Würselener Wald in the direction of Stolberg serves as a warm-up before the route then continues from the copper town along the Jägerhausstraße in the direction of the Nordeifel National Park. The climb to Rollesbroich is one of the executioners of the route. From Woffelsbach onwards, the beautiful Rursee is a constant companion for the participants, before the route continues via Dedenborn and Hammer near Kalterherberg to the Belgian border. Continuing over the High Fens, we reach the Walloon part of the province of Liège. Another executioner then awaits here, the Côte de la Ferme Libert, which has also been crossed in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege cycling classic. Passing the famous Spa-Francorchamps car racing circuit, the route continues uphill and downhill along small paths through Hockai, Solwaster and the La Gileppe reservoir near Jalhay. Shortly before Eupen, the route passes through beautiful villages in the direction of Henry-Chapelle and Hombourg before entering the Dutch part of the route at Sippenaeken. Once in Zuid-Limburg, the route winds through the breathtaking landscape on small paths and roads.
