3RIDES ATTRACTS round about 20,000 PEOPLE TO THE CHIO GROUNDS WITH BIKES, RACERS AND MUSIC

  • World-class cycling races and marathons with nearly 2,000 participants
  • Zoe Wees thrills around 1,500 spectators at the show highlight of the event
  • Top stars on stage, know-how on sports, technology, mobility and fitness at the 3RIDES Expo

Aachen, May 15, 2023: Björn Müller, Managing Director of the 3RIDES cycling event in Aachen, draws a positive conclusion after the second staging of the event. According to the evaluation of the admission and spectator data, approx. 20,000 people came to the area on the CHIO grounds in Aachen last weekend. "Compared to the previous year, this is a considerable increase. It is all the more pleasing as the security measures for the Charlemagne Prize Ceremony kept many people at a distance," Müller explained on Monday. After the 2022 premiere, the organizers had set out to bring Europe's most diverse cycling event to Aachen's Soers. "I am sure that we will live up to this claim," said Müller, who had combined world-class athletes, top entertainment, mass sports and family programs over three days with no admission charge.

As expected, the crowd puller on the three days was the Saturday program. 10,000 people were on the grounds during the course of the day. Early on, true crowds moved across the grounds for the start of the first Gravel World Championship qualifying race in Germany. Not only the 1,200 athletes and their support staff, but also many spectators celebrated the sporting premiere. With Paul Voß (Germany) and Tessa Neefjes (Netherlands) two gravel specialists prevailed, both in a tough competition in a field with concentrated world class and strong amateur riders. André Greipel, the most successful German road pro of all time, had also entered the race: "It was a very difficult race with a very demanding course. The starting field was very nice and the event very successful. I can only recommend to continue this event."

Show highlight of the 3RIDES was the concert by Zoe Wees. The multi-platinum and gold award-winning Hamburg native celebrated not only a musically strong concert but also her 21st birthday in Aachen with about 1,500 fans and spontaneous enthusiasts. The fans serenaded Zoe Wees. Even the rain that started in between did not hinder the mood. At the end of the 3RIDES, there was sunshine galore and a relaxed family program as well as mass sports with gravel and bike marathons. "The feedback from exhibitors at our large expo was spontaneously predominantly positive and this confirms us to continue to expand the 3RIDES," says Björn Müller.
